Please join us for our 2019 summer music concert series:
Friday, July 12 – 7:30pm – The Parker Quartet
Saturday, July 27 – 7:30pm – Sam Reider and the Human Hands
Saturday, August 3 – 7:30pm – The Manhattan Chamber Players
The Parker Quartet – Artists-in-Residence at Harvard University and also at USC – is a Grammy Award winning ensemble founded in 2002. It has performed at the world’s most important venues, and on Chappy this July the group will play a program of Beethoven (two quartets – B-flat major, Op. 18, No. 6; and Op. 59 in E Minor) and Szymanowski’s Quartet No.2.
Sam Reider and the Human Hands will offer something a bit different. Accordionist, pianist, and composer Sam Reider will lead a collective of classical, bluegrass, and jazz musicians performing a program of Bach, Bartok, Dvorak, and Tchaikovsky interwoven with Reider’s original compositions and improvisations based on his explorations of traditional music from around the world.
The Manhattan Chamber Players has performed on Chappy before. This collective of extraordinary artists will form a quintet – two violins, a viola, and two cellos – to play a program that tells the story of the evolution of the cello as a chamber music instrument through works by Vivaldi, Mozart, Boccherini, and Glazunov
